Xiaomi is a phone brand that is giving more and more to talk about. Although it was possible to buy their phones for a while if you looked hard enough, it is only this year that we are seeing a greater diversity of models available for sale in the Argentine market.

Xiaomi: The company

Xiaomi was founded in 2010 by entrepreneur Lei Jun based on the vision “innovation for all.” Its premise is that high-quality products, manufactured with cutting-edge technology, should be accessible to everyone. They offer hardware, software and Internet services with a presence in more than 30 countries and regions.

Known as the “Apple of China” by analysts, Xiaomi has experienced a rapid rise since 2014, when it came out of nowhere and knocked Samsung out of first place in smartphone sales in China and became the world's third largest smartphone supplier, according to IDC.

The company is known for its high-spec smartphones, which can take on premium rivals like Apple and Samsung, but sell for less than half the cost. This comes at a price for Xiaomi, which has about 3 percent margins on its phones, analysts said.

The Boom in Latin America
Counter Pointer Research indicates that among the brands with the greatest presence in the region are Samsung, Motorola and LG, leaving the iPhone with less than 5% market share. For its part, Xiaomi reports an increase in searches of 60% this year.

According to GSMA, it is forecast that by 2025 Latin America will have a Smartphone penetration of 76%; 66% for mobile Internet and 74% for mobile phone subscription. The figures leave ample room for sales of these devices in the coming years, but new products have to provide true value, since the offer tends to be increasingly competitive. This is where Xiaomi comes into action.

The models
In order to position its models, Xiaomi announced a dual brand strategy. Its flagship product and other high-end products will continue to be “Mi” branded, while mid-range value products will carry “Redmi” branding. Here Xiaomi may have taken inspiration from Huawei's brand strategy, which has used “Honor” to target the mid-range segment, while its flagship products have been branded as “Huawei” and come in the Mate or Pro series.

Xiaomi Mi A2 64GB – Negro
The best-selling Xiaomi device of the latest Hot Sale. It has a large 6-inch FHD+ resolution screen, an 8-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. It also has a double 12 and 20 mpx camera for portrait photos, a 20 mpx selfie camera, a fingerprint reader and a 3000 mAh battery. If you had to guess, what price do you think it has? With specifications comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S9, it costs 1/3 the price and also offers multiple color options.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 64gb
The second best seller was the Redmi Note 7. The company's latest model has a 6.25-inch edge-to-edge screen, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal memory, and a very long-lasting 4000 mAh battery. It also has a dual 40 and 5 mpx camera for wide angle and portrait, fingerprint reader, 13 mpx front camera and a latest generation processor, also eight-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. It also has beautiful color variations on its tempered glass back.

Xiaomi Note 6 Pro 64GB – Negro
The Note 6 PRO, despite being a model from last year, is still a more than outstanding option, and the third best-selling model in this Hot Sale. Like the Mi A2, it has a large 6-inch FHD+ resolution screen, an 8-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. It also has a double camera of 12 and 5 mpx for portrait photos, a selfie camera of also 20 mpx, a fingerprint reader and a 4000 mAh battery instead of the 3000 of the Mi A2. It is the cheapest of the 3 and a solid purchasing option that also offers premium features at a very low cost.

Xiaomi Redmi AirDots
Following the trend of Apple and Samsung, Xiaomi has its own version of the famous AirPods, the AirDots. Like the Airpods, the Xiaomi ones are water resistant, Bluetooth 5.0 and offer 12 hours of battery life. Its case has a built-in charger. They come with different application silicones for a better fit in the ear and greater noise cancellation. The AirDots are very comfortable and also affordable versus the competition. Another masterful product from the brand that offers the best price-quality ratio on the market.
